Sometimes pop cultural phenomena attack with the all-encompassing force and voracity of a Lohan on the scrounge for a hit of K. Other times the giant cauldron of pop culture subtly bubbles under with the amazingness of a pop cultural moment on the make. Such is Scissor Sisters’, soon to be iconic, “Let’s Have a Kiki.”

Upon the release of their latest opus, Magic Hour, fans got a glimpse of a song so ridiculously amazing – and amazingly ridiculous – that it seemed a gift enough in itself. Never content to rest of their fabulous laurels though the Sisters added it to their live show, complete with choreography (including snaps and claps!). And then came the video.

AMAZING.

Not only have the Sisters unleashed one of 2012s biggest summer anthems, they have added kiki to the lexicon, given the gays another reason to dance, and given the whole world a truly fantastic pop cultural moment. Celebrities are throwing themselves at the chance to get in on the festivities and the world has come together to bid adieu to our collective ennui! Well-played Scissor Sisters!

Just as a bit of an aside, I went to see the Scissor Sisters in concert last month and it was without fault. Seriously. I could not fault a single thing about it. Not only were the band electrifying on stage, the music was sublime and the crowd was LOVING IT. Scissor Sisters fans are the best. It was a good mix of gays and those over 25 and the crowd was engaged but relaxed. I’ve been to concerts in the past where it’s all shoving and bumping and it really puts a damper on the whole affair. Not so at this concert which was convivial beginning to end.

THAT KIKI WAS MARVELOUS!
